PUBLICATIONS ETHICS
Publication Ethics of the Journal of Global Politics
Jurnal Politik Global is a scientific publication platform that plays an important role in the advancement and development of science, particularly in the field of international relations. Managed by the Department of International Relations, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Riau University, the journal not only provides a forum for academics to present their research findings, but also serves as a bridge to disseminate knowledge at the global level. With a commitment to maintaining the quality of published manuscripts as well as preventing plagiarism, the journal's editorial board has formulated a set of publication ethics guidelines. These guidelines apply not only to authors but also to editors, reviewers, and journal managers, making publication ethics an essential foundation to ensure the integrity, honesty, and quality of the research produced. These ethical guidelines are based on the publication standards set by the Ministry of Education and Culture, which reflect a commitment to achieving accountability and excellence in the academic world.
1. Author Ethics
In the academic world, the responsibility of the author is enormous. Author ethics require each individual drafting a manuscript to ensure that they make a significant and fundamental contribution to the research being conducted. Every manuscript submitted must not only reflect originality, but also must not infringe copyright or plagiarise the work of others. Transparency is key; therefore, authors are required to clearly explain the methodology used in their research and provide the sources of data used, both in the form of citations and proper references. Disclosing conflicts of interest that might affect the results of the research is also very important. The consequences of negligence in this aspect can be damaging to the academic reputation of both the authors and the journal itself. If the authors discover errors in the manuscript after publication, they are obliged to correct the errors immediately and maintain the integrity of the published research.
2. Reviewer Ethics
Reviewers have the important task of assessing and providing feedback on the quality of submitted manuscripts. Their job is not only to assess, but also to provide constructive and evidence-based judgements that can help authors improve the quality of their work. They are expected to be objective and avoid personal interests, and maintain the confidentiality of unpublished manuscripts. In addition, if reviewers find indications of ethical violations-such as plagiarism or data manipulation-they are obliged to report this to the editor. This responsibility illustrates the important role reviewers play in maintaining the academic integrity and overall quality of the journal.
3. Journal Manager Ethics
Journal managers serve as liaisons between all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, and reviewers. Their duties include ensuring that all publication procedures are followed precisely in accordance with established ethical guidelines. They must maintain transparency in every action and decision taken, and ensure that relevant information is accessible to all stakeholders. In addition, journal managers need to conduct periodic evaluations of publication policies and editorial procedures to ensure the quality and relevance of the journal. In the face of new challenges in the publishing world, such as technological changes and the increasing need for open publication, journal managers must be ready to adapt and make the necessary improvements to maintain the reputation and integrity of the journal.
Through strict enforcement of publication ethics, the Journal of Global Politics is committed to facilitating the dissemination of quality research and maintaining academic integrity within the scientific community. The existence of these publication ethics guidelines not only provides direction for all parties who contribute to the publication, but also strengthens the journal's position as a credible and reliable source of information in the field of global politics and international relations.
4. Editor Ethics
Editors play a vital role in the publication process. They are responsible for assessing and selecting manuscripts based on their quality, originality, and relevance to the journal's focus of study. In carrying out this task, editors are expected to avoid bias in decision-making and ensure that the manuscript review process is fair and transparent. Confidentiality is an important element that must be maintained, both information about the author and the manuscript under review. If there is a potential conflict of interest, editors are obliged to disclose this and leave the evaluation to another editor who has no personal or professional relationship that could influence their decision. The editor's responsibilities also include ensuring that any resulting publication is free from plagiarism. As such, editors contribute directly to the reputation and credibility of the journal.
